The Cause & Cure of Anxiousness – Ruben Cabrera
Jesus gives a very upside down Kingdom view of anxiety in the sermon on the mount. Why do we fear? Why are we anxious about tomorrow? God's provision is all around us, even in creation itself.
Matthew 6:25
I. THE CAUSE OF OUR ANXIETY: The cause of our anxiety is treasuring that which we cannot retain.
Three Diagnostic Tests:
1. Examine what you love Matthew 6:19-21
2. Examine what you desire Matthew 6:22-23
3. Examine what you worship Matthew 6:24
II. THE CURE FOR OUR ANXIETY: The cure for our anxiety is valuing that which we cannot lose.
Three-Pronged Cure:
1. Observe His providence (in creation) Matthew 6:26a, Matthew 6:28b-29
2. Consider your position- Matthew 6:26b. Matthew 6:30, Matthew 6:32
3. Reorient your devotion- Matthew 6:33-34, Matthew 6:20, Colossians 3:1-4
