Good Trouble: A Soft Voice for a Fearful Heart

Wrapping up our series on the life of Elijah, John preaches on Elijah's shortcomings and failures even after doing great things in God's name. But God's mercies are new every day, and He will be faithful to us just as He was to Elijah.
I Kings 18:45-46
James 5:17 Elijah was a man just like us
I Kings 19:1-2, I Kings 19:3, I Kings 19:4
CLOSENESS TO GOD YESTERDAY DOES NOT TRANSLATE TO CLOSENESS TO GOD TODAY.
Ps 143:8 His Word comes to us in the new day    Ps 30:5 Joy comes to us in the new day
Lam 3:23 Mercies come to in the new day                      Is 50:4 His voice comes to us in the new day
Is 33:2 Rescue comes to us in the new day
REMEMBER THE GOODNESS OF GOD YESTERDAY SO THAT YOU CAN REST IN HIS GOODNESS TODAY!

I Kings 19:5-8, I Kings 19:9-13 NOTHING CALMS A WILDLY FEARFUL HEART LIKE A TENDERLY QUIET VOICE

Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened,  and I will give you rest.  Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me,  for I am gentle and humble in heart,  and you will find rest for your souls.  Matthew 11:28-29

The Lord is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear?  The Lord is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 27:1

The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know Your name trust in You, for You, Lord, have never forsaken those of us who seek You. Psalm 9:9-10

Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine.  When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched; the flames will not burn you. For I am the LORD, your God. Isaiah 43:1-3

Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.  John 14:27
